We are the network for internationally interested Young Water Professionals (YWP) living, working or studying in Germany.

Our aim is to connect and empower students, academics and young professionals throughout the water sector.

Events & Activities


Upcoming Activities:

MAY 2021 (new date due to COVID-19) the next IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark. We are looking forward to attend and represent our German Chapter in Denmark! If you are interested in joining us, please reach out to us via [email protected].
MAY 2022 the next IFAT Trade Fair in Munich will open its gates - we are looking forward to organize engaging sessions and activities for young water professionals! If you have ideas or would like to contribute please feel free to reach out to us!

Past Activities:

MAY 2020 the IFAT Trade Fair in Munich would have opened its gates and we had several activities planned. However COVID-19 struck and this year's IFAT did not take place.
FEBRUARY 2020 the 20th AfWA International Congress & Exhibition 2020 was held in Kampala, Uganda. We are proud that Hagimar was able to attend and represent our German Chapter at the Ugandan YWP Conference!
23 – 27 JUNE 2019 the 9th International Young Water Professionals Conference was held in Toronto, Canada and we are proud to have contributed and respresented the YWP Germany community by facilitating a workshop on "digitalization in the workplace".
SEPTEMBER 2018 the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2018 was held in Tokyo, Japan. We are proud, that Lisa was able to attend and represent our German Chapter in Tokyo. Lisa participated at the Panel on drinking water security in the Forum: Disaster Counter-measures, Risk Management and Resilience and the session Preparedness for Extreme Events was chaired by Lisa. Furthermore she presented her work with the title: “Are We Prepared? Development And Assessment Of Emergency Water Supply Preparation Planning“ in the Session Disaster & Response. A great representation of our network and German expertise! :)
MAY 2018: At the 6th Joint EWA/JSWA/WEF Conference we aimed to motivate the audience towards supporting youth by highlighting success stories of various Young Water Professional Chapters all over the world.
MAY 2018: After a successful YWP Workshop at the IFAT 2018 in Munich jointly with the German youth organizations Junge DWA and the DVGW-Hochschulgruppen we are working on closer cooperation and communication among future and current young water professionals.
DECEMBER 2017: We were also present at the 8th International Young Water Professionals Conference in Cape Town, South Africa. Hagimar co-organized a workshop on innovation and chaired the session on Water, Agriculture and Food security during the conference. The article "The young and the restless" published in The Source Magazine gives a great account of a truly inspiring conference in Cape Town.
MARCH 2017: during the second joint workshop by the German and Austrian YWP Chapters during Wasser Berlin International 2017 in Berlin we discussed the challenges and opportunities through digitalization in the water sector often framed "Water Management 4.0" or "Water 4.0" in the German water community. In closing attendees received an exlusive tour of the trade fair.
JUNE 2016: during the first joint workshop by the German and Austrian YWP Chapters during IFAT 2016 in Munich we discussed how students and graduates can best prepare for a career in the water sector by building a strong and reliable network. In closing attendees received an exlusive tour of the trade fair.

Round Tables:

BERLIN: Berlin Roundtables take place every first Tuesday on every second month (i.e. February, April, June, August, October, December). Location varies. Up to date information via our Newsletter or Twitter Feed.
MUNICH: each round table is organized individually - responsible YWP Chair for Munich is Lisa
The round tables are jointly organized with the national youth organization for wastewater, the "Junge DWA" and the national organization for drinking water DVGW.

However, you do not have to be a member of an organization: anyone who is interested in water related issues is very welcome to attend!

WHO WE ARE

We are Lisa and Hagimar, Chair and Vice Chair of the Young Water Professional Chapter Germany - our aim is to be the voice and representation of the German YWP community at the International Water Association.

For instance we are currently working on several publications for international and national outlets to highlight the importance of cooperation and communication amoungst YWPs to drive innovation, empower youth and shape the future!

Young Water Professionals
All over the world young water professionals have organized so called "Young Water Professional Chapters" or "YWP Chapters" - the IWA Main Office supports the forming of such Chapters in order to connect young water professionals around the globe.
